The new embedded tweet feature found in the Posterous update is really rather good. Simple, effective, and a great way to expand upon or retweet with additional information. Like it!
So I had Spotify playing on one machine, went upstairs and opened up the laptop where Spotify was already open and clicked on a track to play it. Thought maybe I'd get away with two instances of Spotify running from the same IP, but no. However, it's slick the way it allows itself to be open on two machines at the same time without throwing up an alert box and logging the user out. What happens is that the second you start to play a track on one machine, then the track playing on the other machine pauses instantly, awaiting your return. So clever!
Dear Royal Mail, Do you think your postmen can wait more than 31/2 seconds, after banging loudly on my door, before folding in half some important mail that clearly wasn't designed to be folded, and then attempting to forcefully stuff it through my letterbox? My only pleasure was opening the door halfway through this procedure and glaring at the postman whose face then had the look of a naughty schoolboy.
My daughter was nearly run over yesterday. Her fault? Entirely. She deliberately ran into the path of an oncoming car, amongst the squeal of tyres. However, this was to snatch a wandering 4 year old toddler from certain death, whose mother hadn't quite worked out what responsibility actually meant. I'm cross with her for the risk and enormously proud for the deed. If everyone were to act more selflessly on a regular basis, the world would genuinely be a better place. Health & Safety needs putting back in the box, and common sense and courage need bringing out again.
So after continually having to reduce the length of tweets over the past couple of years and often rewriting the poorly thought out tweets of others, so they could be retweeted, I've decided to experiment with the idea of very small blog entries that are large enough to give the required information but too large for Twitter. 140 characters just isn't enough, it really isn't. Had they made it a more sensible 250 then who'd be complaining? So I'll get Posterous to autopost to Twitter anything that I can't reasonably fit into 140. It's just an idea...
